BIOGRAPHY

ASHER FLATT

I specialise in content creation and storytelling, using photography, film-making and writing to bring stories to life.

Since 2019 I've based myself in Bristol in the UK, where I have worked in the natural history filmmaking industry with companies such as the BBC and Netflix. However my heart lies in New Zealand, where I'm originally from.

Most New Zealanders grow up with a curiosity about what lies outside their little island nation and I’m no different. My mother grew up in London before her curiosity and wanderlust got the better of her. I was raised hearing stories of her travels around the world, living in far off places like France, Ghana and Papua New Guinea. This instilled in me a desire to be able to tell my own tales of distant lands and colourful characters.

My award winning independent film Stuck on a Rock, has been called "a remarkable story," by David Attenborough. This short documentary explored the history of the Lord Howe Island stick insect and how it was saved from extinction by a passionate group of climbers and conservationists.

I'm always keen to discuss new creative projects and would love to hear from you.
